Muzan Kibutsuji is one of the most terrifying characters in the entire world of anime. With his ruthless treatment towards anyone who dares to defy his orders including murdering his own subordinates the Lower Moons in the most gruesome manner, one can’t help but hope that one does not meet him on the way.

However, despite his seemingly evil veneer, his character is marked by intense fear and anxiety over death and mortality. Muzan Kibutsuji’s Past As A Human

Born during the Heian Period,  Muzan had been incredibly feeble and weak since he was in his mother’s womb. His weakness lasted until maturity, which always ended up prohibiting him from participating in normal physical everyday tasks.

Muzan Kibutsuji had an undisclosed, extremely uncommon ailment and was expected to die at the age of 20. His doctor then journeyed throughout Japan in search of the enigmatic Blue Spider Lily. Using it as part of his treatment appeared to heal Muzan, but the doctor’s cure was imperfect, and he continued to suffer from relapses.

Muzan Kibutsuji Became a Demon

Muzan mistook his doctor for a failure and murdered him in a fit of wrath. However, his health dramatically improved and he regretted killing the doctor because only he knew where the Spider Lily was. Moreover, the fact that he had become a demon with cravings for human flesh did not bother him; rather, it was him not being able to go out that hurt his pride.

Thus, in this manner, he had become the first-ever demon to be born in human history. So, he started searching for the Blue Spider Lily, but his efforts were all in vain. His reasoning went like this- now that he had conquered his sick health, he wanted to conquer his weakness to sun exposure too.

Therefore, he decided to create his own demons by feeding them his own blood to help him search for the Blue Lily. He prayed that someday a demon could walk in the sun without getting obliterated, allowing him to consume them and free himself of his sole fault.

He formed a group of incredibly powerful demons known as the Twelve Kizuki by giving some chosen ones a higher quantity of his blood.

The Spider Blue Lily

The Blue Spider Lily was a key component of a treatment developed by the doctor who healed Muzan’s terrible condition. More than a century after Muzan’s death, botanist Aoba Hashibira found samples of the Blue Spider Lily.

He made the observation that it blooms during the day two or three days a year. Moreover, if and when it does, it only blooms for a brief amount of time. Depending on the temperature, the blue spider lily did not bloom at all in certain circumstances.
