Moon Knight Will Be Violent and Won’t Pull Back
One particular rumor that has fans excited about Marvel Studios’ upcoming series, Moon Knight, is that a particularly violent “choreographed sequence” rivaling the famous hallway fight in Daredevil will be included. This is something that has the MCU faithful just as excited as they are skeptical since Moon Knight will still be streaming on Disney+.
However, it seems that Marvel Studios and Disney are allowing themselves to broaden their streaming horizons, allowing their original content to veer into more mature portrayals of violence. Examples of this include John Walker publically executing someone in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the rumor that the Inquisitors in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will be “brutal.”

Now, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has come out in an interview to emphasize the violence and brutality in Moon Knight.

Alongside a new exclusive image from Moon Knight, Empire Magazine has included two quotes from Kevin Feige and series star Oscar Isaac that delve into how this series will be a “tonal shift” for the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
Feige noted that “He’s brutal,” and how Moon Knight is “a different thing:”
“It’s been fun to work with Disney+ and see the boundaries shifting on what we’re able to do. There are moments [in the series] when Moon Knight is wailing on another character, and it is loud and brutal, and the knee-jerk reaction is, ‘We’re gonna pull back on this, right?’ No. We’re not pulling back. There’s a tonal shift. This is a different thing. This is Moon Knight.”
Oscar Issac also addressed the series’ more sensitive subject matter like mental health, admitting that, “It is risky.” Adding that “because [Moon Knight] a limited series” there isn’t any box office pressure and a chance to experiment
Pushing the Limits of Violent Content on Disney+
Fans should be happy to hear from Kevin Feige that Moon Knight will be a “tonal shift” for the MCU and that the character of Moon Knight will be “loud and brutal” as he fights. This interview quote, coupled with the reveal of Mr. Knight’s costume, implies that the series could draw inspiration from one specific comic issue that involved Mr. Knight.

In a one-issue story from the comics, Marc Spector’s Mr. Knight persona brutally beat twenty armed mob enforcers to save a little girl being held in an abandoned hotel. Then, in what can only be described as an action scene lasting multiple pages, Mr. Knight brutalized these criminals in so many ways as he ascended the stairs of the dilapidated building.
Breaking someone’s back on a railing, throwing a Crescent Moon through a man’s jaw, kicking another so hard in the stomach they vacate their dinner and smashing one in the face with a baseball bat. The issue itself isn’t covered page to page in blood and gore, but what Moon Knight does to these criminals is certainly plausible to be adapted into a Disney+ show.
Fans will find out for sure how violent Moon Knight will be when it premieres on Disney+ on March 30, 2022.
