One Piece Manga Ends in 4 to 5 Years

Eiichiro Oda the creator of the famous manga One Piece, gave an interview in an episode of the Vs Arashi variety program hosted by the Arashi band on Thursday, August 27th. He stated that he plans to bring the One Piece manga story to an end in 4 or 5 years. Arashi band member Masaki Aiba also asked Oda, “Have you decided about how many more years the plot has?“.

Oda as well replied to a question from Arashi member Satoshi Ohno that he has the ending decided. But Oda also said

We have to talk about everything every time my editor changes.

and the editor sitting beside him during the interview confirmed that he also knew the ending.

Publisher Shueisha and the editors of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and the Jump Comic imprint announced on August 14 that they are delaying three One Piece publications. The delays will be from September 4 to September 16. Because of production issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. So the three publications are One Piece manga Vol. 97, One Piece Oda Eiichiro Gashū Tiger Color Walk 9 (One Piece by Eiichiro Oda Tiger Color Walk 9 artbook), and One Piece Magazine Vol. 10.

The series also faced delays during spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Oda warned in May that more delays might happen. As his staff works on reorganizing the workplace to social distancing easier.

In the advertisement for the upcoming One Piece Magazine Vol. 10 on September 4th. This year’s 35th issue of Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced August 2 that One Piece is “headed toward the upcoming final saga.“.

Oda also stated in a Youtube video posted in September 2019 that he “wants to end the One Piece story in five years.“.

Which was confirmed 2 months later in an interview in November 2019.
