All Might: My Hero Academia
In My Hero Academia, Gran Torino was All Might’s mentor before he became the Symbol of Peace. Gran Torino often criticizes All Might’s naivety and recklessness. It’s one thing to be heroic, but it’s entirely different to carelessly charge into battle without thinking of the repercussions.
Gran Torino is a strict teacher who puts his students through the wringer to make them stronger. Though he respects what All Might’s become, he can’t help but criticize him for encouraging Deku to be as impulsive as he is as a hero.
Giyu: Demon Slayer
In Demon Slayer, Urokodaki was the former Water Hashira. He trained Giyu, who took his place in the Demon Slayer Corps. Giyu ultimately became a better Water Hashira than Urokodaki. He took everything he learned from him and constantly surpassed his limits to become stronger.
Giyu held his own against some of Demon Slayer’s most vicious foes, like Akaza and Muzan. Giyu’s endurance is largely unmatched by others in the Corps. He’s strong enough to cause minor snow storms by swinging his Nichiren blade hard enough.
Natsu Dragneel: Fairy Tail
In Fairy Tail, Natsu grew up under Igneel’s tutelage. Igneel is the King of the Fire Dragons. Natsu learned everything about fire magic from him. He joined the Fairy Tail Guild after Igneel’s sudden disappearance.
He finds out that his former mentor became one of his greatest enemies after aligning himself with Acnologia. Natsu defeated Igneel during an intense battle, killing him in the process. Natsu couldn’t have defeated Igneel if he hadn’t learned everything from him.
