About Ao Ashi
Ao Ashi is the anime adaptation of Yugo Kobayashi’s sports manga by the same name. The story revolves around a young football player Ashito Aoi and his journey and experiences in the Tokyo Esperion youth academy. In an unfamiliar new setting, going from a small rural town to Tokyo, Ashito must give it his best and prove himself to kickstart this life changing path.

- So far, we have seen Aoi set aside his ego and learn the basics of soccer again. He accepts his flawed knowledge and style of playing soccer and isn’t afraid to begin anew.
- Though he does have some feuds and disagreements with other players, Aoi is gradually getting the hang of it. He is even one of the main reasons that Team B managed to win in the last few games.
- With this development, we thought Team B was on a roll and that Aoi would continue his winning streak. But Episode 4 kept us on the edge of our seats as things took a rough turn.
- Aoi receives a devastating announcement from Coach Fukuda.
- His position on the team is changed from forward to defence, which is the geographically opposite post.
- This completely takes Aoi by surprise. He is insanely good at scoring while out in the field. Even his whole entry into soccer began just so he could score and have fun when he was back in Ehime.
- Having watched the series so far, though we viewers understand that perhaps Aoi wouldn’t make the best forward, we’re still on Aoi’s side and wonder if Fukuda’s decision seems too sudden and careless.
- We slowly see the rest of the team get wind of the team position updates. They immediately start trying to look for Aoi and are concerned with comforting him. This shows the growing bond among the players.
- Akutsu is back in this episode of Ao Ashi and continues to remain an unlikable character as he insults Aoi. On the other hand, coach Nozomi, who has so far also been another unlikeable character, surprises us as he seems concerned for Aoi asking how he’s feeling and wishing him to do his best.
