The official synopsis for this season, as given by Crunchyroll:

It’s been four years since the Scout Regiment reached the shoreline, and the world looks different now. Things are heating up as the fate of the Scout Regiment—and the people of Paradis—are determined at last. However, Eren is missing. Attack on Titan has new episodes that air every Sunday in Japan on NHK General. MAPPA is the studio producing the show, taking over from IG Port’s Wit Studio who has taken this role for the previous three seasons. That is not the only change made for the final season— Jun Shishido and Yūichirō Hayashi are replacing Tetsurō Araki and Masashi Koizuka as chief director and series director respectively, scriptwriter Hiroshi Seko is taking over the series composition from Yasuko Kobayashi, and Tomohiro Kishi is replacing Kyōji Asano as character designer. Both Crunchyroll and Funimation are streaming the latest season as it airs.

Hajime Isayama’s manga of the same name, which is the basis for this anime, is also currently being serialized in the Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine. It has been running since September 2009 and is one of the best-selling and critically acclaimed manga series.
