Avengers: Endgame Writers Speak About Scarlet Witch and Rocket Raccoon Road Trip

What was missing in the Avengers: Endgame?

Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Avengers: Endgame has a runtime of over three hours. After the movie was cut down, it was missing a lot of things, for instance, Scarlet Witch.

This indication was given by Avengers: Endgame writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus.

During the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, the writers had a word with ScreenRant. The discussion laid interest on the big subplot in Avengers: Endgame where Wanda was seen on a road trip with Rocket Raccoon.

The discussion was about the reason behind cutting off the scenes from Avengers: Endgame. The writers revealed the following facts which initiated the scenes to be cut off from the movie.

A Statement was given by the writers:

“They weren’t terribly outrageous ones, there were a lot more boring ones,” said Markus.

A mention of the Triskellion was made by the writer where Wanda was alive, and she hadn’t been blipped.

The scene goes like, Wanda and Rocket drove a car from the building (Triskellion) to Doctor Strange’s house. They drove so far, to further get to the Kamar Taj through the doorway and accomplish the goal of getting the stone.

To this, the writer suggested that in a fast-action movie, such a slow scene was not exactly fitting.

According to them, fans would love to see Wanda survive than seeing them both hangout. This indeed worked out the best for the entire team and fans.

Furthermore, the directors of the movie and the writers spoke to each other about cutting their favourite scenes from the movie.

There was a scene in Avengers: Infinity War which was difficult to understand. Keeping this in mind, the writers decided to cut the scene. The scene was related to Thanos and Doctor Strange. In the scene, Doctor Strange blew the mind of Thanos and sent him through the mindscape.

The idea for the same was to show what crimes Thanos has committed. To elaborate, “bodies were being thrown at him, he lands and things turn into bodies, hands are grasping at him.”

In the end, he was held guilty in front of the Living Tribunal. The scene was epic but it was hard for people to think deeply and understand the whole scenario so quickly.

This was also, something that may not have been understood by the majority of people watching the movie.

However, the main aim of the writers was to deliver the best story for the benefit of both the team and fans.

They have possibly done a great job and the result for the same has already been seen after the release of the movies.

Marvel Cinematic Universe feels accomplished after listening to the reviews of fans.
