Violet Evergarden tells the story of a war veteran trying to reintegrate into society. She was basically raised as nothing more than a war machine. She tries to assimilate back into society.

The series questions the definition of a human, as Violet tirelessly works to uncover what it means when someone says, “I love you”. Violet’s introduced as a robot at first, but she’s a flesh and blood human just like everybody else. However, she became robotic after enduring trauma due to the war.

Code Geass

Code Geass is an impressive sci-fi series with lots of political commentaries. Lelouch, the protagonist, wants to get revenge on the nobles for what they stole from him. He uncovers the “Geass,” a superpower that allows him to control other people’s minds.

With this, Lelouch gathers an army to take on the nobles. Lelouch’s morality is quite questionable. The series shows him going mad with his newfound power, further contributing to the narrative’s compelling tone.

Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop is another classic anime directed by Shinichiro Watanabe.  follows Spike Spiegel and his crew of other bounty hunters as they venture across the galaxy. It is an essential 90s anime with a unique art style and plenty of lovable characters for the audience to enjoy.
