Darkest Female Antiheroes In Anime

Here is everything you need to know about the darkest female antiheroes in anime.

Nico Robin: One Piece

In One Piece, Nico Robin used to be one of the Straw Hats’ greatest enemies. Even after joining the crew as their resident archaeologist, Nico’s still pretty fierce and shows her opponents no mercy during a fight. Arguably, she’s the most violent and unrestrained member of the Straw Hats.

Nico initially joined the Straw Hats because she didn’t have anywhere else to go. Nico’s still pretty morally ambiguous, but she’s done too many good things to be considered a villain at this point in the story.

Lady Nagant: My Hero Academia

In My Hero Academia, Lady Nagant was Hawks’ predecessor in the Public Safety Commission. The Public Safety Commission is a corrupt government organization that churns out heroes to become spies. They may create heroes, but their business model is anything but heroic. Disenchanted by their practices, Lady Nagant defected and became a villain working under All For One.

Nagant likely never wanted to be a hero or villain, but just chose the path that ensured her sanity and freedom. Nagant is a ruthless fighter who takes every battle seriously. Her straightforward and unrelenting combative prowess makes her a daunting foe.

Maki Zenin: Jujutsu Kaisen

In Jujutsu Kaisen, Maki Zenin was largely defined by her resentment towards her family. The Zenin clan represents the worst aspects of jujutsu sorcery. She defected from the clan and enrolled at Tokyo Jujutsu High to become a great sorcerer. Ultimately, she wanted to prove them wrong.

However, the Shibuya Incident’s aftermath revealed the Zenin clan’s destiny. Maki just went back to the estate to grab some tools, where she was tricked by her father and found Mai bleeding out in the basement. She killed him and went on a rampage to get revenge on her family for the hell she and Mai went through as kids.

Tokiko: Buso Renkin

In Buso Renkin, Tokiko’s hatred for homunculi outshines all of her other personality traits. She’s defined by how much she wants to annihilate every last one of them for what they did to her classmates. This resentment and anger easily make her the most merciless character in Buso Renkin.

Tokiko kills whoever gets in her way, making her appear utterly heartless and even shortsighted in the long run. However, some of the other characters helped warm her ice-cold heart and soften her rougher edges.

Revy: Black Lagoon

In Black Lagoon, Revy is a skilled gunslinger who grew up on the streets. She saw how cold the world is at a young age, so bloodshed and theft are the only way of life that makes sense to her. Revy’s short-tempered doesn’t have the patience for negotiations and has no qualms about resorting to violence.

Revy never shows remorse or mercy for whoever she’s targeting and has been compared to prolific real-world murderers. Revy’s only ever relied on herself, so she does not need a god or sentimentality.
