Here’s the premise of the series, as provided by Kodansha’s English publication of the manga:

At Granbell Kingdom, an abandoned amusement park, Shiki has lived his entire life among machines. But one day, Rebecca and her cat companion Happy appear at the park’s front gates. Little do these newcomers know that this is the first human contact Granbell has had in a hundred years! As Shiki stumbles his way into making new friends, his former neighbors stir at an opportunity for a robo-rebellion…And when his old homeland becomes too dangerous, Shiki must join Rebecca and Happy on their spaceship and escape into the boundless cosmos.

Hiro Mashima, who is best known for his Fairy Tail manga series which was serialised between 2006 and 2017, launched the Edens Zero manga in June 2018. For those who are familiar with his most popular work, Edens Zero would be an easy read—it uses themes similar to what made Fairy Tail so popular (although the 2018 manga is Mashima’s darkest work); the characters and art style are also similar enough to not be completely strange to the readers of Fairy Tail.

Konami is also developing a 3D action RPG for consoles, as well as a top-down RPG for mobiles inspired by the manga.
