God Valley! God Valley! God Valley! This name has been dangled over and over on One Piece for years now, and we are finally getting all the answers as Oda confirmed that the Elbaf arc will cover the entire story behind the bloody battle there.

For years now, we only knew that Garp, Rogers and Rocks had a clash there, and that was the end of the Rocks Pirates. We also knew that Garp became a force to be reckoned with only after this incident, and that his hatred for the World Nobles hit a whole new peak after that.

Back in the Egghead arc, we finally saw that even Monkey D Dragon, the Supreme Commander of the Revolutionary Army, was a part of the God Valley incident and that, like Garp, his hatred for the World Government began there.

Here is everything you need to know that happened in God Valley:

• Every three years, World Nobles held a Native Hunting Competition, where they select a non-government-affiliated island and carry out a hunt on the natives there. They have various treasures and prizes for the winners, and the most well-known ones are slaves from different rare clans.
• God Valley was the island selected for the hunt 38 years back.
• Dragon meets Kuma and Ivankov as slaves for the first time here.
• Shanks and Shammrok, children of St Figarland Garling and a God Valley native, red-haired women are saved by Dragon after Garling kills their mother and decides to wed Shakky.
• Whitebeard’s scar was also from God Valley because of his clash with Figarland Garling.
• Shakky was the main prize of the event, and Blackbeard and his mom were also among the treasures.
• Black Beard is introduced as the son of  Rocks D Xebec and Ellis, who is from the Davy clan, a part of the Buccaneer clan.
• Rocks came to the valley to save his wife and son while everyone else thought he was there for Shakky.
• Only natives of God Valley that are alive right now would be Shanks, Shammrock and Blackbeard.
• Garp faces Linlin, Kaido and Edward Newgate head-on, and they run from him.
• Dragon is interrupted by a Holy Knight as he flees, and Whitebeard unintentionally saves him.
• Sommers gets beaten up by Rayliegh, and Shakky is won over by him, leaving Gaban and Rogers in tears.
• Shammrock is taken back by Saint Maffey, and Dragon picks up Shanks again from the ground after the fight and flees.
