Here’s All We Know About Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi

Rescheduling of dates

Sanjay Leela Bhansali had been working on Gangubai Kathiawadi with Alia Bhatt for a long time now. After their project, Inshahallah suffered various setbacks, they decided to focus on this women-centric film instead. Unfortunately, it got postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

The film that was supposed to release last September had to be rescheduled. Reportedly the cast resume shooting in November last year and is left with very minimal work. If it all goes according to plan, they’ll wrap up by March.

Plot

The film is about the life of a young girl named Gangubai Kathiawadi who was sold into prostitution by her boyfriend Ramnik Lal and reflects on the challenges she faced through her journey.

OTT Release

As per various reports, the makers have struck a deal with Netflix for 70 crores. The film’s star-studded cast and Bhansali’s grandeur is what’s expected to have let this film into getting this deal.

Dance numbers

Student of the Year fame Alia Bhatt is doing extensive prep for the dance numbers in the film. She’ll be shooting those by the end of this month. Knowing Bhansali, the shoot for these songs is expected to take place on a grand scale.

Cameo

The movie also stars Emraan Hashmi and Ajay Devgan in cameo roles, while Huma Qureshi is about to make an appearance in the special dance number. All in all, fans look forward to this story and are excited to see Alia Bhatt in this new avatar.
