Is Spider-Man Skipping Avengers: Doomsday? Here’s What We Know

With Spider-Man 4 gearing up to begin filming this summer, fans are buzzing with anticipation. Many are hoping to see Tom Holland’s web-slinger swing into Avengers: Doomsday, especially with Robert Downey Jr. making his highly anticipated return to the MCU—this time as Doctor Doom.

But according to a fresh insider report, the absence of Holland’s name from the Doomsday cast announcement wasn’t just an oversight. It turns out Spider-Man might be sitting this one out.

Will Spider-Man Be in Avengers: Doomsday?

According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, Tom Holland will not be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday. Why? Because Spider-Man 4 will reportedly take place during the events of Doomsday, essentially running parallel to the multiversal showdown.

For context, Avengers: Doomsday is set for a May 1, 2026 release and is expected to introduce Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom. It’s also set to bring back heroes from both the MCU and Fox’s X-Men films, making it one of Marvel’s most ambitious projects yet.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man 4—scheduled for July 31, 2026—will see Holland return alongside Zendaya and introduce Stranger Things star Sadie Sink in an undisclosed role.

Could Spidey Still Swing Into the Action?

While Holland skipping Doomsday sounds disappointing, there’s a silver lining. Since Spider-Man 4 is supposedly unfolding at the same time as Doomsday, there’s a strong chance Peter Parker is still involved—just from a different perspective.

Let’s not forget: no one in the MCU currently remembers Peter Parker exists after the events of No Way Home. This unique situation could set him up for a crucial, behind-the-scenes role in the larger battle. And let’s be honest—a post-credits cameo in Doomsday seems almost inevitable.

That said, conflicting reports have suggested the opposite—that Holland will have a significant role in Avengers: Doomsday. If that’s the case, Marvel may have found a way to juggle his Spider-Man 4 shooting schedule alongside Doomsday—or perhaps they’ve reworked the storyline to accommodate both films simultaneously.

One thing’s for sure: with Doomsday already in production, and more casting announcements expected soon, we won’t have to wait long to find out.
