When Endgame was released, it was thought to be the movie that would have the final appearances of the original cast of Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But, Marvel’s Phase 4 will be doing it instead. The San Diego Comic-Con 2019 gave fans a lot of surprises when Marvel Studios formally announced the Phase 4 of MCU, with new releases and much more.

Before Endgame’s release, Marvel had suggested that the film would be the final chapter of the original team of Avengers and would end the, what is now popularly known as, The Infinity Saga.

The end of the Avengers:

Though this was true to some extent. Iron Man, Captain Marvel, and Black Widow, three of the original Avengers, saw tragic and emotional endings to their stories. And, as promised by the makers, the original team of Avengers got broken up.

Regardless, Avengers: Endgame did feel like an emotional and sad closing of a chapter. Moreover, the whole essence of this ending could also be found in the absence of the traditional Marvel post-credits scene, which left fans wanting more.

Phase 4 of Marvel Cinematic Universe to bring something new:

MCU’s Phase 4 has a strong presence of Phase 1 characters, with Black Widow, Clint Barton/Hawkeye as well as Thor all having their reprises.

When dug a little deeper, it seems that this new phase will also be the final endgame to the crime-fighting careers of the trio.

When looked at from a different perspective, it could also be better than ending the story and career trajectories of every Phase 1 character in a single movie.

Black Widow’s future:

Black Widow is the obvious choice for the start of this new phase, especially because Natasha Romanoff was killed in Endgame.

Quite honestly, MCU has been a little too late in making a film on Black Widow, and while the idea is good, even knowing her ultimate fate somewhat weakens the exciting atmosphere that surrounds the movie.

Moreover, this would also mean that there will be no more Scarlett Johansson in MCU.

Who will replace Hawkeye?

Marvel revealed a Disney Plus series on Hawkeye at the SDCC 2019.

However, the makers also stressed on the fact that this series would give prominence to Kate Bishop, a character from the Marvel comics who takes the role of Hawkeye after Barton retires.

This also implies that the upcoming series would, in some way, represent the passing of the torch, and ultimately conclude Jeremy Renner’s part in the series.

What future does Thor have?

Similar to the Hawkeye series, Marvel confirmed that Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, will have his final act in the Disney Plus show Thor: Love &Thunder.

The show will focus on the character of Jane Foster taking the guise of Thor, which might be another passing of the torch moment where one classic Avenger hands his baton over to his replacement.

Will there be any more Hulk?

And finally, there’s the Hulk, one who is still alive and an active character in the Marvel Universe. Fans are curious if they will be able to see Hulk again after Endgame.
