Naruto’s Real Name Is Namikaze But Changed to Uzumaki. Here’s Why!
Neither Namikaze nor Uzumaki was a safe surname option for Naruto if we consider all the dangers that come with it. However, there is a reason why the third Hokage decided to use Uzumaki as Naruto’s surname. There was no doubt that his life would be safer as an Uzumaki than as a Namikaze.
Many have pondered upon this decision of the third Hokage and feel it is only right that Naruto keeps his real surname. Nevertheless, this decision of adopting Uzumaki as the surname was taken for some good reasons.
The Uzumaki clan was completely wiped out and there were a lot of stakes involved. But Naruto landed up with this dangerous surname as more risks were involved if the real surname was adopted.
Why Naruto’s real name is Namikaze but changed to Uzumaki?
Naruto’s father, Minato Namikaze was a well known ninja who killed 1000 Shinobi in an instant during the Third Shinobi War. It was particularly during this period that Minato made a lot of enemies who would do anything to take revenge against him and his family. This was one big reason why Naruto couldn’t retain his real name.
Although the Uzumaki clan was massacred, there was no incident of tracking down and killing an Uzumaki, apart from the massacre. So it was much safer for little Naruto to take his mother’s surname. This was the only way he could hide his identity and protect himself from his father’s enemies.
The Third Hokage never revealed anything to Naruto about his parents but eventually he came to learn the truth. Even with the risks involved, Naruto told people because he was confident about his strength if anyone dared attack him for revenge.
