Paul Rudd, Tessa Thompson, and Wyatt Russell Join Marvel Zombies Cast

Marvel Studios has officially confirmed that Paul Rudd, Tessa Thompson, and Wyatt Russell will lend their voices to the upcoming animated series Marvel Zombies, set to premiere on Disney+ on September 24, 2025. The R-rated project expands on the fan-favorite “What If… Zombies?!” storyline, promising a darker and more intense look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Paul Rudd will once again play Scott Lang, better known as Ant-Man. Fans last saw him in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and What If…? Season 2. In the original “What If… Zombies?!” episode, Scott appeared in a surprising form — a floating head kept alive by technology. That arc is expected to continue in Marvel Zombies, likely picking up from his escape toward Wakanda with Spider-Man and T’Challa.

Tessa Thompson returns as Valkyrie, her first animated appearance outside of her role in The Marvels and earlier What If…? episodes. Her role in the zombie-infested storyline remains a mystery, leaving fans speculating whether she’ll appear as a survivor fighting the outbreak or as one of the infected.

Wyatt Russell is back as John Walker, also known as U.S. Agent. He recently appeared in Thunderbolts and in What If…? Season 3. His character’s fate in Marvel Zombies is unclear, though many fans expect him to face off against the zombified version of Steve Rogers, potentially creating a chilling twist to his arc.

The series boasts a strong ensemble cast, including Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel. Given its R-rating, audiences can expect a more brutal and horror-driven take than typical Marvel projects, setting the tone for a unique addition to the MCU’s Disney+ lineup.

With Ant-Man’s survival story, Valkyrie’s uncertain role, and John Walker’s possible clash against a zombified Captain America, Marvel Zombies is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most anticipated animated ventures.
