Spider-Man: Far From Home Theory Suggests a Very Unexpected Character Cameo

Spider-Man Far From Home

With a little over a month until the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home in theaters everywhere, it’s hard for fans to gauge what kind of surprises Spider-Man: Far From Home may have in store.

As we are inching towards the release date, rumors and fan theories have flooded the media. Recently brings one that says a very unexpected Marvel character will be showing up in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Endgame event shows Iron Man’s ultimate sacrifice to save the universe. But fans think Robert Downey Jr. could return at least one more time in this July’s Spider-Man: Far From Home.

second trailer for the Spidey sequel revealed that the film will explore Tony’s legacy and the grief Peter Parker is feeling over his mentor’s death.

According to this theory that’s quickly gained traction over on Reddit, Spider-Man: Far From Home will feature an appearance by Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man!

Reddit user Dkmistry23 thinks that one shot from the trailers might just prove that we haven’t seen the last of Tony. Peter is shown wearing the same pair of shades that Stark was wearing in Avengers: Infinity War.

The Redditor suggests that Peter’s being driven somewhere by Happy Hogan, who’s just given these glasses to Peter as a posthumous wish of Tony’s.

The glasses, when put on by young hero, will see a hologram message recorded by Stark prior to his death. Tony being his mentor, tells him to find a life beyond just being Spider-Man. He almost did the same much by settling down with Pepper during the five-year time jump and raising his daughter, Morgan.

Tony Stark as Mentor for Spider-Man

Knowing this, it’s easy to see why he would want to implant this knowledge to Peter. Tony always felt like Peter had all of his best aspects and none of his bad ones, which is why he mentored him for a time. Tony even made his new outfits, and it looks like he made some spare ones if the Far From Home trailers are any indication.

It’s not at all a bad theory – more like a keen observation of some trailer footage misdirection, really. RDJ’s big presence in Spider-Man: Homecoming made a good reason for Spider-Man to be a real hero.

So it seems a better option for Marvel to continue his appearance in Far From Home — especially in a way (video footage) that connects back to the opening of Homecoming.

It will be a fun appearance for those fans who are in pain with Iron Man’s death in Avengers: Endgame.

The cameo will be equally light and witty and emotionally powerful would be a great way to lighten the sting of the loss.

This could be why Peter’s so keen on going on a European vacation with his friends in FFH because he’s fulfilling Tony’s wishes.

Many fans have criticized Parker’s decision to flee New York and abandon his duties as the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler, so having it be something Iron Man tells him to do would certainly make sense.

Right now this is just theory and speculation, but the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailers have arguably been preparing us for it, with imagery of Iron Man’s likeness in murals and paintings, suggesting just how much Tony Stark’s “ghost” really drives this story.
