[SPOILER] Could Be The Secret Villain In Black Widow Movie

Who Is Yelena Belova? Everything You Need To Know About Black Widow's Red Room Sister

The final trailer for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow movie might tease [SPOILER] becoming a villain for Natasha Romanoff.

The latest trailer for Black Widow might suggest Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) be a villain to Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson). Marvel Studios is launching the fourth stage of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the long-awaited Black Widow film.
The prequel introduces several new characters to the MCU that serve as Natasha’s friends and foes, but some of them can be both.

Black Widow’s main new cast includes Pugh as Yelena, David Harbor as the Red Guardian, Rachel Weisz as Iron Maiden, and the unnamed cast member as Task Master. In the comics, all of these Marvel characters are villains to the Black Widow or other heroes, with Taskmaster as the central antagonist. This is underscored in the final trailer for Black Widow as the Taskmaster’s skill copying abilities are on full display. The trailer teases that Yelena may be part of the villain’s plans, though other characters make up Natasha’s Russian family.

The theory that Yelena becomes a villain in the film Black Widow is based on two new scenes shown in the final trailer. The first scene shows Yelena in a white suit on the operating table. Yelena’s place is quite troubling, but there are marks throughout her hair that indicates some kind of surgery is about to happen. Later in the trailer, Yelena is shown kneeling on the floor with her parachute, embraced by a visibly emotional Natasha. Many thought that the combination of these scenes gives a hint that Yelena dies in the Black Widow. It is highly unlikely that Marvel would have leaked a spoiler. These scenes reveal that she becomes Taskmaster’s agent at some point in the film.

Before Yelena’s shot appears on the operating table, the Black Widow trailer features a conversation where she describes the Taskmaster’s strategies for controlling the Red Room. She says that he has developed a way to manipulate hopeful Black Widow agents so that they are conscious but do not make decisions. So far, the footage for The Black Widow has primarily focused on just a few scenes with Yelena: 1) the reunion with Natasha and the fight against other black widows, 2) her involvement in the Red Guardian’s exit from prison, and 3) the three other cast members following the aerial battle sequence with her. This gives the Taskmaster enough time to kidnap Yelena and make her one of her followers.

Given how marketing has set the plot for Black Widow, there are opportunities for Yelena to be in the Taskmaster project. If Yelena is still part of the team after the Red Guardian’s breakout, it could be a subsequent ambush or an invasion of the Red Room. It can then be rescheduled as an all-out rescue effort to regain Yelena’s aerial combat. Her time with the Taskmaster can be when she undergoes surgery and possibly fought with her family and at the behest of the Taskmaster.

No matter how Yelena being controlled by Taskmaster might play out in Black Widow, it could be a smart decision for the movie’s plot. Her capture would give the other characters a clear motivation to save part of their family and then get revenge on Taskmaster. Natasha says during the trailer that she should’ve gone back for someone, and they “need to go back to where it all started, so they never do that to anyone again.” Although this could allude to Yelena’s first time in the Red Room, this could instead spell out Natasha’s motivation in Black Widow and support the idea that Taskmaster messed with Yelena again.
