The Mystery of Nicholas Scratch: Agatha’s Dark Secrets in Agatha All Along

Nicholas

As Agatha All Along unfolds, fans are left wondering about the true identity of Joe Locke’s character, known as “Teen.” But there’s another, potentially darker, mystery lingering in the series: the fate of Agatha Harkness’ son, Nicholas Scratch.

The Nicholas Scratch Theory from WandaVision

Back when WandaVision aired, many fans speculated that Nicholas Scratch, Agatha’s son from the comics, would make an appearance. However, his presence is only hinted at through Agatha’s pet rabbit, Señor Scratchy. Now, with Agatha All Along, some believed Scratch would finally be in the spotlight, but it seems his story may take a more tragic turn.

Agatha’s Missing Son: A Tragic Backstory

In the two-episode premiere of Agatha All Along, Agatha (still under the alias “Agnes”) is trapped in an elaborate illusion, playing a detective in a crime drama. The most striking part of this illusion is an empty child’s room, labeled as belonging to Nicholas Scratch. Agnes hesitates before looking inside, and when she finally does, her emotional reaction speaks volumes.

Inside the untouched room, Agatha finds a trophy for “Best Vocals” at a children’s concert. Could Scratch have been a talented singer, possibly using his vocal skills for magic? Given that witchcraft often involves music, this could suggest that Agatha was training her son in the mystical arts before he went missing — or worse, died.

Agatha’s guilt and sorrow over Scratch’s absence are palpable, and there are hints that his disappearance may have been her own doing.

Did Agatha Sacrifice Her Own Son?

A key moment occurs when Jennifer Kale (played by Sasheer Zamata) sarcastically asks if Teen is “another child sacrifice.” Agatha, who is usually quick with a witty response, reacts with discomfort. Could this be a hint that Agatha once sacrificed her own son for darker powers?

In one TV spot, there’s a haunting image of the Darkhold — a powerful and evil spellbook — in place of a baby in a crib. This may be a vision, symbolizing the possibility that Agatha exchanged her child for greater magical power. Another clue comes from a locket Agatha finds near Jane Doe’s body, implied to be Wanda Maximoff. Inside the locket is a tuft of hair, possibly belonging to Nicholas Scratch. Could this be a keepsake, or does Agatha have more sinister plans involving her son?

Is Nicholas Scratch Her True Desire?

Joe Locke’s Teen reveals that “The [Witches’] Road will give you the thing you want the most” and promises that what’s missing awaits at its end. While Agatha longs for the return of her powers, it’s possible that what she truly desires is her lost son, Nicholas Scratch.

However, Agatha’s past, filled with betrayal and backstabbing, leaves her with a difficult path to redemption. With her coven already suspicious of her intentions, Agatha may face a long and treacherous journey down the Witches’ Road to reunite with Scratch — if that’s even possible.

As Agatha All Along continues, fans will be watching closely to see if Nicholas Scratch’s tragic story unfolds and what it means for Agatha’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
