These DC movies Can See Henry Cavill’s Superman

Real Superman sequel projects with Cavill have been associated with various rumours and different directors over the years, but as it stands, Man of Steel 2 is not under development at Warner Bros. Various reports of Cavill’s own DC future have stated that the actor has left the role.

These are a few possible upcoming DC movies for Henry Cavill’s Superman to appear in.

Black Adam

The upcoming DC movie to see his appearance would be Black Adam, which is currently slated for December 22, 2021. The film features Dwayne Johnson as the eponymous character, who is shown as a villain and the anti-hero.

While Black is the arch-nemesis of Adam Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel), he and Superman have fought on numerous occasions in comics, so there is a basis for confrontation. Black Adam is usually one of the characters portrayed as powerful as Superman, so it makes for an equal match.

The Flash

Of the Justice League roles featuring upcoming solo films, perhaps Henry Cavill’s most plausible location for Superman is the long-gestating The Flash movie, where Ezra Miller stars as the eponymous catalyst.

Flash, part of the original DC Extended Universe project, has been through several writers and directors over many years and has been pushed back several times, with its current release date set for June 3, 2022, and directed by Andy Muschiatti of IT, with a script by Christina Hodson.

Shazam 2

Now that Superman is back, it could make it to Shazam 2 on November 4, 2022 – an ideal spot to make an appearance. Cavill’s Superman in Shazam 2 could be a little more than a fun guest role, as it was in the first Shazam.

It fits in with the tone and style of the franchise, and makes it easier for Cavill to match his commitments with The Witcher, though its subsequent release date makes it a little more comfortable anyway.

Aquaman 2

The only other upcoming Justice League member solo movie to feature Henry Cavill’s Superman could be Aquaman 2, currently released on December 16, 2022. There is a lesser basis for this for some reason: the two characters in the DCEU aren’t linked, so Superman doesn’t have a precise fit in the Aquaman movie.

Likewise, given much of the movie will presumably take place underwater, and there are plenty of threads from the first Aquaman to build upon, then again it could be hard to work Superman in. At the same time, both characters are established members of the Justice League, and Aquaman 2 will surely spend at least some time on land, so it’s not impossible that Cavill’s Superman could appear in a small role, perhaps sowing seeds for something bigger to come in another DC movie. Aquaman visits Superman’s grave in the Justice League Snyder Cut too, so there could be more of a link through that.

Other Upcoming DC Movies

He might be used in a sequel for one of the upcoming movies, such as Black Adam 2 or Shazam 3, or some kind of larger team-up. And if Zack Snyder’s Justice League ends up leading to Justice League 2 eventually happening in some form – and while it’s a long way off, Warner Bros. would surely want that team-up to happen again one day – then that would be another DC movie for Cavill’s Superman to return in. And while Man of Steel 2 isn’t happening yet, if Cavill’s cameo leads to a more significant groundswell of support, then there’s still a chance that could happen too.
