Marvel is well known for crossing over their characters beautifully. The interconnectivity opens the door wide open for various interesting pairings and team-ups even outside of the huge Avengers movies.
Doctor Strange–Spidey Team
Earlier, we saw Thor–Hulk team up in Thor: Ragnarok resulted in a truly unique work of comedy, while the pairing of Tony Stark and Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming brought about some emotionally powerful moments that were then carried over into Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
Spider-Man has been a part of five movies with Tom Holland’s Marvel’s definitely made the most of having Spider-Man in the MCU over his past five movies, with Tom Holland’s wallcrawler rubbing shoulders with pretty much all of the Avengers by now.
We may see the actor again in the Marvel Universe, though we saw the Spidey–Doctor Strange teamed up in Avengers: Infinity War.
Its look like more to be explored of this team in the future.
Meanwhile, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland talked with CinemaBlend about teaming of Doctor Strange and Spider-Man.
“I’m really wanting to do a team-up with Doctor Strange because we’re both New Yorkers and I just really like the idea of a science guy being teamed up with a guy who does magic because it totally contradicts everything he knows.
And I like the idea that there is real science that Peter Parker talks about, and then there’s Doctor Strange gibberish, where he’s like ‘The time rift and the thing and the thing.’ So it’s kind of fun.”
Doctor Strange in other Marvel movies
As shown in Infinity War, there’s also the great contrast of personalities, as the dour Strange doesn’t seem to know what to make of a peppy kid like Peter. Then there’s Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch’s hilarious chemistry.
During the press conferences and met–up, we saw Benedict was all time together with Holland. There’s the reason for that, he was with him to prevent him from spoiling anything about the film.
Doctor Strange had a short role in Thor: Ragnarok as well as meeting heroes in Avengers movies. So, he might show up in, say, Spider-Man 3. Or maybe he could have a cameo in Doctor Strange 2.
We got similar magic vs. science dynamic between Doctor Strange and Iron Man in Avengers: Infinity War, but given how packed that movie was, After the Infinity Wars release, it was revealed that Spider-Man will have chance to cross paths in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The multiverse chapter would be added to the list which will enable the Spidey to act with Strange.
Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige tried to frame out Doctor Strange appearance, as both, the actors were keen on working together. For the moment, though, Peter’s got enough superhero shenanigans on his plate in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Not only will Nick Fury hijack his summer vacation, but there’s a new hero on the block in the form of Mysterio to contend with. The movie will hit theaters on July 2.
