Wiccan’s Future in the MCU: Agatha All Along Showrunner Hints at What’s Next

Wiccan’s MCU Future Looks Promising After Agatha All Along
With Agatha All Along concluding last November, fans have been left wondering about the future of its spellbinding characters, especially Billy Maximoff, aka Wiccan. While Marvel Studios has yet to confirm any official plans, showrunner Jac Schaeffer recently teased that Joe Locke’s Wiccan may have a bright future in the MCU.
Jac Schaeffer Hints at Wiccan’s Return
In an interview with Collider, Agatha All Along and WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer suggested that Wiccan’s story is far from over. While she claimed, “I’m not involved in anything,” she also hinted that Locke’s portrayal of Billy Maximoff was too significant to leave behind:
“I have so much love for Marvel, all the characters, all the performers, all the storylines, my colleagues at Marvel. And conversations continue, so I can’t speak to anything specific, but I will say that he’s an important character in the comics, and Joe has filled him out in such a way that I would be surprised if he wasn’t seen again.”
This statement strongly implies that Marvel Studios has long-term plans for him, even if those details remain under wraps.
While Marvel has not announced his next project, there are a few logical possibilities:
1. Vision’s Upcoming Disney+ Series (2026)
Rumors suggest that Marvel Studios is developing a series centered around Paul Bettany’s Vision, expected to debut in 2026. Given that Vision is Billy’s father in the MCU, this would be a perfect place to continue his story.
2. Young Avengers Formation
With Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts laying the groundwork for new heroes, Marvel is slowly assembling the Young Avengers. In the comics, Wiccan is a key member of this team, making a Young Avengers project a likely destination for him.
3. A Standalone Wiccan Series
Joe Locke’s Wiccan was one of the standout characters in Agatha All Along, and his powers and backstory offer plenty of potential for a solo Disney+ series. If Marvel sees strong fan demand, Wiccan could get his own project exploring his magical lineage and search for his brother Tommy.
While Schaeffer remains cryptic, her comments indicate that Marvel is not done with Wiccan just yet. Whether he appears in Vision, a Young Avengers project, or his own solo series, Wiccan is bound to play a larger role in the MCU’s supernatural and multiversal expansion.
For now, fans can revisit his journey in Agatha All Along, streaming now on Disney+.
