Wonder Woman 1984 Loses Its Fresh Status on Rotten Tomatoes

The DC film had huge expectations and rankings unlike any other DC films before but now has finally failed miserably in keeping up to everyone’s expectations.

Most Anticipated to Rotten

Wonder Woman 1984 was one of the most anticipated DC movies after the Snyder Cut that is about to release this March. Wonder Woman 84 was released in the theatres and on HBO Max on 25th December 2020.

The movie, at first, started to get slow reviews and adverse reactions from fans. But many thought it would go away with time, but boy, were they wrong?

Fallen Fruit

The movie, which was given a fresh status at Rotten Tomatoes with a 93% rating, has now fallen so low to the level of getting a rotten status and 60% rating.

The movie stands with a critical approval rating of 59% with 154 “Rotten” reviews. Not only that, but Rotten tomatoes has also adjusted its consensus statement for the movie, which according to some reports, happen very rarely.

What happened?

Well, Wonder Woman was postponed many times, and probably the hype died down. Wait, if that’s the case, then shouldn’t just the movie suffer at the box office rather than getting bad reviews?

Yup! That’s true; fans have been faithful and have watched the film some way or the other. But what is evidently clear is that Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot duo failed to deliver this time.

Better than Captain Marvel

Wonder Woman one was a massive hit for DC and was welcomed by fans with open arms. Marvel’s Captain Marvel was constantly put down and judged and compared with Wonder Woman on how a female-centric superhero movie should be.

Now, this doesn’t make Wonder Woman the worst DC movie yet; the titleholder of that will be The Suicide Squad, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Also, this rating is far better than the other DC movie, but the only thing is WW84 failed before its predecessor, Wonder Woman.

Stroke of bad luck continues?

DC has had a stroke of bad luck with the movies, and fans are hopeful that Snyder Cut, The Suicide Squad 2, and The Batman will help them come out of that streak.

The Suicide Squad holds a rating of 26%, which is far less than WW84 but what raises concerns is that the movie had 93% at the start and has dropped quickly to 60% within just two or three weeks. If this keeps up, WW84 might be there soon.
