Kelly Marcel is All Set to DIrect Third Movie of Venom

Kelly Marcel, who wrote and produced the original two “Venom” films, is expected to direct Marvel and Sony Pictures’ Venom 3, which will star Tom Hardy.

According to Deadline, Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom will be in the third Venom film, which Marcel will direct. Along with Hardy, Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), will produce Venom 3. Marcel will also write the screenplay, which will be based on a plot she and Hardy co-wrote. Other producers for Venom 3 include Hutch Parker, Amy Pascal, Matt Tolmach, and Avi Arad. Marcel will make his directing debut with Venom 3.

Though it has been revealed that Hardy will return as the deadly protector, details regarding the plot of Venom 3 are yet unknown. Ruben Fleischer was the director of the 2018 film Venom, and Andy Serkis was in charge of the 2021 film Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The Venom movie franchise has had two earlier iterations, both of which featured Marcel as a screenwriter who collaborated with Hardy on the plot. She is well recognized for penning the Fifty Shades of Grey movie script (2015).

The Marvel Comics villain Venom, one of Spider-most Man’s well-known foes, served as the inspiration for Venom. Ruben Fleischer’s first movie made $856 million worldwide, exceeding expectations, while Andy Serkis’ second movie made $507 million worldwide, a respectable sum in the COVID-19 era.

Tom Rothman, Chairman, and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group revealed during CinemaCon in April that Venom 3 has gained approval from the studio. Although little is known about the plot, it was rumored in December 2021 that the movie would “explore the multiverse” and feature Venom “finally meeting and confronting Spider-Man.” These rumors have not been confirmed. Even though Venom made an appearance in the Spider-Man: No Way Home post-credits scene in 2021.

In October 2021, Serkis previously discussed his own plans for a potential Venom threequel, adding that Hardy and Kelly Marcel had viewed the films as “a trilogy arc.” A meeting between Spider-Man and Venom was planned, but the director did not specify when or how it would take place.
