The acclaimed series Urusei Yatsura by Rumiko Takahashi is getting a new anime adaptation to commemorate Shogakukan’s 100th anniversary. With its abundance of ecchi jokes and puns, this anime and its characters will easily become your favorite anime. Trust us, we were once as cynical as you.
This popular series combining sci-fi elements with some action and romance won the Shogakukan Manga Award during its early days. Rumiko Takahashi is the mangaka of anime series like Ranma ½, Inuyasha, Urusei Yatsura, etc.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Urusei Yatsura anime adaptation for 2022.
Urusei Yatsura Anime Adaptation Release Date
In 2022, a new anime version of Urusei Yatsura will be released. Despite the lack of a firm release date, team members have confirmed that the anime would be split into four seasons.
A year’s worth of airing is equal to four courses. The first season will air in 2022, however subsequent seasons may not be released in that order. We will probably get these updates as time goes by.
Lum and Ataru, the two main characters, are squabbling in the background in a new teaser. The teaser gives information about the new cast and crew. Urusei Yatsura’s forthcoming anime is being animated by Studio David Production.
Rumiko Takahashi has even released a new visual which shows Lum and Ataru together. While it’s not the best visual, its rawness speaks to many fans.
This announcement is like a great start to a New Year. 2022 will cure us of some of our much-needed 80s nostalgia when anime were plain and good and the city-pop OSTs were amazing.
However, the anime will not cover all the 300+ chapters published. They’ll cover only some arbitrarily selected parts of the manga.
Ataru’s Voice Actor To Be Played By Levi’s Voice Actor
The voice actors voicing the characters Lum and Ataru are renowned names in the world of anime. Ataru will be voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya, who also voiced Levi in the wildly popular series Attack on Titan, popularly known as Shingeki No Kyojin.
Lum’s voice will be lent by Sumire Uesaka, who voiced Nagatoro.
