Marvel Actor Ross Marquand Pitches a Steve Rogers-Led Disney+ Series to Marvel Studios

When fans think of Chris Evans, it’s almost always as Captain America, the embodiment of strength, integrity, and perseverance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). For nearly a decade, Evans brought Steve Rogers to life with a perfect mix of sensitivity and relentless drive. Even though his arc seemingly concluded in Avengers: Endgame, the desire to see him return remains strong. Now, it appears one of Marvel’s own actors is among those advocating for a Cap comeback.

Ross Marquand’s Captain America Series Pitch
During a panel at Edmonton Expo on September 20, Avengers actor Ross Marquand opened up about a bold idea he’d pitched to Marvel Studios. According to Ross Marquand, he has been pushing for a Disney+ series that would dive into one of the most intriguing yet unexplored storylines from Endgame—Steve Rogers’ mission to return the six Infinity Stones to their rightful places across different timelines.
Fans remember how, at the end of Endgame, Rogers was tasked with returning the stones to restore balance to the multiverse. But exactly how he accomplished that, or the possible encounters he faced along the way, was never shown. Marquand’s pitch would take audiences through those journeys, which would undoubtedly bring back the excitement of seeing Captain America in action.
Marquand’s motivation for this pitch is likely self-serving—but in a good way! After all, Marquand stepped in as the voice and live-action presence of Red Skull (or the Stonekeeper) in Infinity War and Endgame when Hugo Weaving didn’t return. A series following Steve’s travels with the Infinity Stones would naturally feature a showdown between Cap and Marquand’s Stonekeeper. A chance for Marquand to reprise his eerie portrayal of the villain would be hard for him to resist.
Could Chris Evans Really Return as Captain America?
Even though Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers had a storybook ending in Endgame, fans haven’t stopped hoping for a return. Evans himself has admitted in past interviews that he’s protective of the character’s legacy, implying he wouldn’t reprise the role unless the story was something truly special. Marquand’s pitch could present just that—an opportunity to revisit a beloved hero’s unfinished quest while offering room for Evans to add another layer to his iconic portrayal.
In fact, Deadpool & Wolverine even teased this nostalgia when Evans made a surprise cameo. Fans were initially led to believe he’d appear as Captain America, only for the film to twist expectations and reveal him as the Human Torch, a playful nod to his Fantastic Four days.
However, bringing back Rogers as Cap does come with risks. Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, is now the MCU’s new Captain America and is set to star in Captain America: Brave New World in 2025. Bringing Steve back too soon could overshadow Sam’s journey, undermining his rise as the new shield-bearer.
Is a Cap Comeback in the Cards?
While the chances of Steve Rogers returning to the MCU in any major capacity remain uncertain, there’s no denying the allure of seeing Chris Evans back in action. The MCU’s Multiverse Saga opens the door for alternate universe versions of characters to appear, so even if the original Steve Rogers stays retired, fans could still meet a different version of Cap in future Marvel projects.
Regardless of whether Marquand’s series pitch ever comes to life, Steve Rogers remains a fan favorite whose legacy is secure. With Marvel’s ever-expanding universe and the multiverse in full swing, who knows? Captain America may yet have one more story to tell.
