Oscar Isaac Rumored for Avengers: Doomsday After Star Wars Exit

Marvel fans may be in for a surprise—Oscar Isaac, known for his role as Moon Knight in the MCU, is suddenly at the center of speculation following his unexpected withdrawal from Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025. The actor’s quiet exit from the event, due to a “change in production schedule,” has ignited rumors that he may be stepping back into the MCU for the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday.

Why Did Oscar Isaac Drop Out of Star Wars Celebration?

The official Star Wars Celebration X account announced that Oscar Isaac would no longer attend the convention scheduled from April 18–20, 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. The post reads:

“Due to changes in his production schedule, Oscar Isaac is no longer able to attend Star Wars Celebration Japan. Leap Ticketing will email all customers who have purchased an autograph or photo op ticket for Oscar with options for you to exchange or refund your purchase.”

While the statement doesn’t confirm the reason behind his scheduling change, MCU fans were quick to connect the dots. With Avengers: Doomsday currently filming in the U.K. and some of its cast still under wraps, it’s very possible that Isaac has joined the movie in secret.

What’s Oscar Isaac Working On Right Now?

Currently, everything on Isaac’s publicly announced film slate is either in pre-production or post-production. There are no known projects that would conflict with his scheduled Star Wars appearance—making his sudden cancellation feel all the more mysterious.

Given how secretive Marvel Studios has been about the full Avengers 5 cast, it’s no stretch to imagine Isaac being pulled in for some key scenes—especially if his role was kept under NDA.

Could Moon Knight Return in Avengers: Doomsday?

Oscar Isaac’s MCU character, Marc Spector / Moon Knight, hasn’t appeared on-screen since the critically acclaimed Moon Knight series ended on Disney+ in 2022. However, Marvel Studios has been rumored to be looking for a way to bring him back.

The timing here could be perfect. With Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) reportedly sitting this one out, Moon Knight may be the supernatural powerhouse Marvel needs to represent the mystical side of the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday.

Why Moon Knight Makes Sense in Doomsday: Supernatural Role: With no Strange or Wanda, Moon Knight fills the mystical gap.

Multiversal Conflict: The God of the Moon storyline adds a unique layer to a multiverse narrative.

Ensemble Balance: Doomsday features returning Avengers like Thor and Sam Wilson, but lacks a gritty street-level hero like Moon Knight.

Setting Up Midnight Sons?

Moon Knight’s reintroduction in Doomsday could also lay the groundwork for the long-rumored Midnight Sons team-up. In Marvel Comics, this dark supernatural team includes Blade, Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange, and Moon Knight. With Blade (Mahershala Ali) confirmed for the MCU, and Ghost Rider still a possibility, this group is starting to take shape.

Including Moon Knight in Avengers: Doomsday would be a smart pivot—reintroducing the character in a massive crossover while setting him up for future spinoffs or a second season of his series.

Avengers: Doomsday – The Big Picture

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo (Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame), Avengers: Doomsday is the crown jewel of MCU Phase 6. It features a massive multiversal war led by returning heroes like Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, with Robert Downey Jr. shockingly cast as a multiversal variant of Doctor Doom.

If Moon Knight joins the fray, it could signal Marvel’s intent to merge cosmic, mystical, and street-level heroes under one massive narrative.
