All you need to know about the forthcoming anime Platinum End

Platinum End is an adaptation of a manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. They are the creators of the hugely popular anime Death Note, and the upcoming series’ manga attained 4.5 million copies in circulation as of December 2020. 

This year is one of the most happening years of anime, as many shows were released and we are just in the beginning half of 2021. Hit anime like Attack On Titan, Demon Slayer, Black Clover and Jujutsu Kaisen delivered the viewers with a new season or movies. 

And, Platinum End too remains one of the most highly anticipated shows of 2021. Here is everything you need to know about the anime adaptation, its plot and release date.

When will Platinum End release?

The anime is set to release in October 2021 on TBS in Japan, although an exact release date has not been announced yet. The date for an international release has also not been confirmed. The anime is directed by Hideya Takahashi, while the character designs are helmed by Koji Odate.

The announcement was made during the Jump Festa ’21 online event on December 19, 2020, that the series will receive an anime television series adaptation by Signal. MD. Though there has been no statement regarding the streaming sites, we can expect the series to simulcast around the world on platforms such as Funimation or Crunchyroll after it finishes airing in Japan. 

Platinum End Anime: Plot

The upcoming series is expected to be faithful to the original content, which centres around a young student called Mirai Kakehashi. Being fed up living with his abusive uncle and aunt, Mirai tries to commit suicide but is saved by a Guardian Angel called Nasse. 

Mirai soon learns from Nasse that his foster parents were responsible for the deaths of his mother and father. He uses the powers bestowed by Nasse to confront them and achieve justice. 

He is also faced with another challenge i.e he is one of the thirteen candidates chosen to replace God, who is to retire in 999 days. So he is to battle the other contestants, some of them are crazily ruthless as to even kill their competitors just to win.
