Marvel fans have been eagerly anticipating the debut of the new Captain America. It’s been five years since Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers passed on the shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson in Avengers: Endgame.

Since then, in the series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, we’ve seen Wilson grapple with the decision to become the new Captain. Now, in Captain America: Brave New World, we’ll finally see Wilson fully embrace his role as the Star-Spangled Man.

This marks a significant moment for Wilson as he steps into the spotlight as the lead character. Director Julius Onah describes it as a pivotal moment for Wilson, saying, “It’s his coming-out show.” The movie will test Wilson in ways he’s never experienced before.

Will Sam Wilson be able to Lead the Avengers?

Moore, who is one of the producers of Captain America 4, shared his thoughts in an interview, saying, “I believe he’s different from Steve Rogers, and I think that’s a positive thing.” He compares the new Captain to Rocky, portraying him as an underdog in any situation.

Unlike Rogers, he’s not a super soldier, he’s not immortal, and he doesn’t have the backing of the Avengers. Moore finds it intriguing to explore what happens when this ordinary guy publicly declares himself as the new Captain America without much support.

He emphasizes the idea of making the character earn his role and seeing how he handles being overwhelmed and outmatched. Moore believes that being a super soldier isn’t what defines Captain America, and he looks forward to showing this with Mackie and Sam Wilson.

Julius Onah Teases Fans About The Leader

Julius Onah is directing Captain America: Brave New World, and he’s hinting at some significant developments for Tim Blake Nelson’s character, Samuel Sterns, also known as The Leader. Sterns was first introduced in The Incredible Hulk in 2008 but hasn’t appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since then. In his last appearance, Sterns’ forehead was exposed to Bruce Banner’s blood, hinting at his transformation into the villainous Leader.

Onah explained that one of the challenges for Sam as Captain America, working with the government, is how he’ll make decisions. Onah told Empire. “His perspective may sometimes conflict with that of the President.”
