Mo Dao Zu Shi Season 3: Release Date and Plot Details


Mo Dao Zu Shi is one of the most popular (donghua) Chinese anime in both China and overseas. When one experiences the dazzling visuals and immersive soundtrack, one can comprehend why this donghua anime has achieved overwhelming popularity. 

The production quality is also of the highest quality and the plot is engaging and multifaceted. That’s probably why it quickly gained a huge fan following on the  Internet. 

Based on a novel of the same name written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, this anime holds high ratings. Mo Dao Zu Shi has managed to secure a high rating of 8.9/10 on Douban, an influential Chinese Social networking service. 

Its first season, having a total of 15 episodes, was first aired on Tencent from July till October 2018. Mo Dao Zu Shi Season 2, having 8 episodes, was released somewhere in 2019. 


With Season 2 leaving everyone hungry for more content and plot, let’s dig into the release details of Season 3. 

Release Date of Mo Dao Zu Shi Season 3

Fortunately, Mo Dao Zu Shi has already been renewed for a third season. This delightful news got an official confirmation in the credit scene of Season 2’s last episode. 

To add to the great news, they’ve already released even a trailer for Mo Dao Zu Shi Season 3. The animators did a very good job at highlighting Wei Wuxian’s demonic cultivation. 


However, there has been no definite release date yet. But since it’s already renewed officially, fans can rest in peace. Some fans have been nice enough to speculate that the Chinese anime might get released sometime in 2021 or 2022.

A Chibi Series in the Making?

Chibi is used to describe art styles which depict characters with giant heads and petite bodies. According to some sources, a Chibi anime is continuously getting released.

The Mo Dao Zu Shi Chibi version has been releasing periodically since July 2020. The studio has planned for the Chibi series to have a maximum of 30 episodes in total.
