Doctor Strange 2 and Spider-Man 3 have been delayed by Sony and Disney, and they find new release dates.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the 3rd Tom Holland-led Spider-Man film, and the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse are all delayed. However, Thor: Love and Thunder comes a bit earlier than originally scheduled.

According to Deadline, Spider-Man 3 has been shifted from July 16, 2021, to November 5, 2021. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 drops from April 8, 2022, to October 7, 2022. Interestingly, this makes the third Spider-Man movie occupy the space of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness initially.

The delays may not be massive, but it will push the Multiverse of Madness to 2022 instead of 2021. Director Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love And Thunder is now coming up on February 11, 2022, a week ahead of its previous release date of February 18.

As Benedict Cumberbatch made his mark on the MCU as the 2016 Doctor Strange, the character appeared in Thor: Ragnarok and played a crucial role in both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor is a cornerstone of the world’s highest-grossing franchise and is one of the few OG Avengers to continue to be part of the team in the post-Endgame world.

Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse may be the black sheep of the family, because Marvel Studios being not involved with it, but the animated film finally gives Miles Morales his due time on the silver screen, with the 2018 film being given the green light for a sequel.

With all these films in their infancy, and with COVID-19 shutting down production across Hollywood, Disney and Sony seem to be playing a safer game than sorry when it comes to promising fans. With Thor: Love and Thunder releasing early, it may help ease the pain of Marvel fans.
