First Look of Fantastic Four
The first pre-shoot footage of Fantastic Four: First Steps was unveiled, featuring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn in their iconic roles. Marvel also shared a selfie from Pascal’s Instagram, showing the actors in their blue suits with the caption, “Our first mission.”
What the Footage Revealed
The footage showcased Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards teaching a class called “Fantastic Science with Dr. Richards,” complete with an old-fashioned accent. It also featured a retro-styled Future Foundation logo and a Fantasticar designed like an old Cadillac from The Jetsons. Fans were treated to a glimpse of Ben Grimm (The Thing) and Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman) engaging in a playful retro game, with Johnny Storm’s introduction humorously noted by his sister Sue as “very single.”
The footage ended with a dramatic look at Galactus peering into the Fantastic Four’s headquarters, The Baxter Building.
Doctor Doom and Future MCU Connections
In a related reveal, Marvel announced Avengers: Doomsday, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Although not directly connected to Fantastic Four: First Steps, this news adds another layer of excitement for Marvel fans.
Fantastic Four: First Steps appears to draw inspiration from the classic comic arc The Coming of Galactus. This storyline involves Galactus choosing Earth as his next target, and the Fantastic Four, with the help of the Silver Surfer, using the Ultimate Nullifier to drive him away.
Given that the film is set in an alternate universe, there’s speculation that the Fantastic Four could face defeat and end up in the main MCU as part of their survival. This setup could provide a fresh entry point for new fans while integrating the team into the broader MCU.
