After the Season 1 finale in March 2023, Blue Lock Season 2 was first revealed. Alongside this news, a movie titled Blue Lock: Episode Nagi was announced. It’s scheduled to hit theaters across Japan on June 28, 2024, with animation production by studio 8bit.

At the end of Season 1, the Blue Lock team went up against 5 professional players from different countries, experiencing international football firsthand. But in their upcoming match, they face a high-stakes situation.

Not only will they showcase their skills to fans and scouts, but the match will also determine the future of the Blue Lock project. If they lose, the project will be canceled. However, a win means they’ll get to replace members of the Japan under-20 national team. So, everything hinges on this crucial match.

The Official Synopsis

Blue Lock is an anime based on a manga created by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. The manga started in 2018 and was published in Weekly Shonen Magazine. The first season of the anime was directed by Tetsuaki Watanabe and animated by studio 8bit. Taku Kishimoto was responsible for the series composition and script, while Kenji Tanabe and Kento Toya handled the character designs.

Crunchyroll is streaming the first season with English subtitles. The series follows Japan’s quest for World Cup success, which prompts the Japanese Football Association to launch a tough training program to find the national team’s next striker. Three hundred high school players compete for the position, but only one will emerge victorious. Who will be the striker to lead Japanese soccer into a new era?
