Future Diary involves mystery, romance and thriller in one package and hence earned the title of being a classic anime. The series may not be everyone’s cup of tea, especially those who can’t stand violent and gory elements. Nevertheless, the series manages to garner plenty of attention. 

Adapted from the manga series of the same name authored by Sakae Esuno, the anime aired from October 2011 to April 2012 with a total of 26 episodes. What is the Anime about?

Future Diary is one of the earliest works in the Death Game genre. And no doubt, these days this genre has been doing the rounds among anime fans. Some consider the success of the anime to have pushed the popularity of this genre.

The plot centres around the Diary Game, where 12 individuals compete in a deadly battle. Deus Ex Machina, the God of Time and Space provides them with “Future Diaries” which can predict the future. The ultimate survivor of the game is to become the heir of Machina.

Future Diary provides emo and mysterious features with lots of depth, enough to captivate viewers attention. While it does cater mostly to fans of death game anime, anyone can grow to love this exciting series as the storyline becomes too interesting and engrossing.

The characters are truly diverse and complex while also presenting their individuality. Though not all, fans have commented on how some are truly likeable for many reasons. Like how they are very strategic and brave in planning their way out of dead ends during the combat.

Although the anime’s character Yuno Gasai is highly controversial, we can’t deny that some fans are crazy about her. This may be due to her unpredictable and psychotic attitude which keeps the plot stimulated!
