Some Fans Are Convinced the MCU Ruined This Character

Marvel comics depict Drax the Destroyer as an irresistible force that does not resist the chance to tear down someone’s head or use his knives for a fierce battle. In the movie version, Drax seems to be pushed aside and never seen in any brutal fight scenes.
Marvel fans recently discussed how different the two characters are on Reddit and how frustrated they are by the “walking joke” that Drax is in MCU.

Everyone agrees to see Drax as a tough, meaningful character and not put before us on the big screen for comic relief.

Comic book Drax

Marvel Comics has described the character of Drax as an irresistible force. Created by Kronos to destroy Thanos, he stops the wave of destruction and saves the world. Drax has the soul of jazz musician Arthur Douglas of California, who sought revenge after Thanos killed his family.

He is now best known as a green shirtless superhero with huge popping muscles and tattoos. Drax previously had the power of flight and used his telepathic abilities to know when Thanos was in his field.
In their fiercely brutal battles, Drax suffered a brain injury that created a childlike personality. This seems to be fixed-point MCU took.

The MCU character portrayal of Drax

Dave Bautista brings Drax‘s character to life in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers. Instead of a fierce warfighter, Drax has been transformed into a beloved tattooed superhero whose great power seems to be a comical solution.

Ronan, the Accuser, kills the Drax family while keeping the comic book plot. Drax spends the rest of his days taking revenge on Thanos. Although he still carries the rage, his character now shows a softer side as he interacts with his newly arrived galactic friends.

Some believe it to be an artistic decision to tame Drax‘s character so that he is funny and more likable. Others believe that the MCU already has a huge cast and does not have room for more character development with Drax.

Fans think the MCU Drax character is useless.

Fans agree that the MCU film depiction of most characters is generally very different from comics. Fans recalled how the comic book Drax snatched the heart from Thanos and took over the entire army. In the films, his legendary knife skills never come to life, leaving fans feeling disappointed. As one person noted, “Drax is so powerful in comics, and it is painful to see him as the walking joke in the MCU.”

Fans really want Drax to complain a lot less about his sensitive nipples. One Reddit user summed up most fan sentiment by saying, “He is basically in the movies for comedy, and I hate it.
