Charlie Cox Almost Spoiled Spider-Man: No Way Home With Andrew Garfield

Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, shared how he nearly spoiled his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home while talking with co-star Andrew Garfield.
The Secret Cameo That Almost Leaked
While Garfield’s return as Spider-Man was one of Hollywood’s worst-kept secrets, Cox’s appearance in No Way Home was just as exciting. It marked his first time playing Matt Murdock since Netflix’s Daredevil ended in 2018, officially bringing him into the MCU.
With so many major cameos in the film, Marvel Studios enforced strict secrecy. However, with actors like Garfield and Cox filming in close proximity, some secrets were bound to slip.

How Charlie Cox Almost Gave It Away
In a Marvel Studios promo video for Daredevil: Born Again, Cox recalled texting Garfield when he arrived in Atlanta for filming. Cox had read rumors about Garfield’s return and decided to message him:
“If the trades are to be believed, we’re in the same movie…”
Garfield, trying to deny his involvement, responded:
“Nah, I don’t think so, dude, I’m doing Spider-Man.”
That’s when Cox unintentionally let the truth slip:
“Yeah… so am I.”
Garfield then replied:
“You’re not in my script.”
To which Cox revealed:
“Well, I’m in my script!”
Secret Dinner in Atlanta
The two actors later decided to meet for dinner, only realizing too late how suspicious it looked. They ended up sitting at a table with two chairs facing the wall to avoid being recognized together.
“We walked in, and then we both had this moment of, like, ‘Oh… this is not a good look.’ We sat facing the wall and tried not to look at each other.”
This moment was just one of many times Cox tried to avoid spoiling his role in the film before its December 2021 release.
Will Cox and Garfield Team Up in the MCU?
Cox and Garfield never shared a scene in No Way Home, but their MCU futures remain wide open.
Charlie Cox is set to return in Daredevil: Born Again, and rumors suggest he might appear in the upcoming Avengers movies.
Garfield has been linked to Spider-Man 4 (2026), potentially teaming up with Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire.
