Muzan Kibutsuji’s Past As A Human
Born during the Heian Period, Muzan had been incredibly feeble and weak since he was in his mother’s womb. His weakness lasted until maturity, which always ended up prohibiting him from participating in normal physical everyday tasks.
Muzan Kibutsuji had an undisclosed, extremely uncommon ailment and was expected to die at the age of 20. His doctor then journeyed throughout Japan in search of the enigmatic Blue Spider Lily. Using it as part of his treatment appeared to heal Muzan, but the doctor’s cure was imperfect, and he continued to suffer from relapses.
Muzan mistook his doctor for a failure and murdered him in a fit of wrath. However, his health dramatically improved and he regretted killing the doctor because only he knew where the Spider Lily was. Moreover, the fact that he had become a demon with cravings for human flesh did not bother him; rather, it was him not being able to go out that hurt his pride.
Thus, in this manner, he had become the first-ever demon to be born in human history. So, he started searching for the Blue Spider Lily, but his efforts were all in vain. His reasoning went like this- now that he had conquered his sick health, he wanted to conquer his weakness to sun exposure too.
The Demon Subordinates of Muzan Kibutsuji
Therefore, he decided to create his own demons by feeding them his own blood to help him search for the Blue Lily. He prayed that someday a demon could walk in the sun without getting obliterated, allowing him to consume them and free himself of his sole fault.
He formed a group of incredibly powerful demons known as the Twelve Kizuki by giving some chosen ones a higher quantity of his blood.
The Spider Blue Lily
The Blue Spider Lily was a key component of a treatment developed by the doctor who healed Muzan’s terrible condition. More than a century after Muzan’s death, botanist Aoba Hashibira found samples of the Blue Spider Lily.
He made the observation that it blooms during the day two or three days a year. Moreover, if and when it does, it only blooms for a brief amount of time. Depending on the temperature, the blue spider lily did not bloom at all in certain circumstances.
