The mutant son of a human sea captain and a prince of the mythical undersea kingdom of Atlantis, Namor possesses the super-strength and aquatic abilities of the Homo mermanus race, as well as the mutant ability of flight, along with other superhuman powers.
Through the years, he has been portrayed as an antihero alternately from a good-natured but short-fused superhero, or a hostile invader seeking vengeance for perceived wrongs that misguided surface-dwellers committed against his kingdom. The first known comic book antihero, the Sub-Mariner has remained a historically important and relatively popular Marvel character.
That’s a prediction and not a confirmation. But Namor the Sub-mariner, like Magneto, is an anti-hero, does good things when he wants to, and does bad actions when he has to. He has fought alongside and against the Avengers and Defenders as well as Fantastic Four and X-Men.
He’s Marvel’s first mutant as far as publication goes but not the oldest mutant within the Marvel universe. Much like Aquaman, he is an Atlantean-human hybrid and King of Atlantis but unlike Aquaman, he has the ability to fly. The only difference is, they’re not within the same universe (Aquaman is DC’s superhero) until Marvel/DC crossover pits them together.
His more prominent team is being part of The Illuminati. The Illuminati is a secret group of the strongest and smartest in the Marvel Universe, comprised of Iron Man, Professor X, Namor himself, Mr. Fantastic, Doctor Strange, and Black Bolt.
That’s a supergroup that no one wants to go up against unless you have a team of gods or Celestials. It’ll be interesting to see how Namor the villain takes on the protagonists of Doctor Panther 2.

The 2016 film “Doctor Strange” marked a turning point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because it introduced magic into this new universe. The film’s titular character, as played by Benedict Cumberbatch, became a pivotal figure in the ensuing MCU movies. Not only did he have a subtle, yet essential part, in “Avengers: Infinity War” and…
Whenever a new photo or trailer comes out to promote a massive franchise such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans analyze it like an archaeologist or historian, viewing each pixel with a magnifying glass or making 30-minute videos describing two-minute trailers. Sometimes the information they collect is useful, but at other times it isn’t, because…
Remember in the Endgame when we saw Natasha play a little bit of Nick Fury? Well, we thought it was in her blood to do that, but we were wrong. Broken Black Widow Natasha Romanoff, or Black Widow, as we fondly call, was one of the most affected due to the snap. She somehow retained…
Recently released Marvel’s epic movie Avengers: Endgame served as an end to Infinity Era and to some character’s arc. The movie concludes with the death of super-villain Thanos and the demise of super-hero Iron-Man. Time traveling was the main plot of Endgame, back to specific moments in Marvel history — 2012 New York, 2013 Asgard,…
Nearly two years before the MCU made its impressive comeback with Phase 4 in theaters and on Disney+, the franchise was in the midst of its most successful year to date financially and critically. Of course, much of this had to do with the debut of arguably the biggest comic book movie of all time in Avengers: Endgame. Serving…
“Eternals” is one of the most ambitious Marvel Studios films to date. It’s an origin story for almost a dozen characters in some capacity, and it introduces a metric ton of new intergalactic lore to the MCU. It seldom interacts with any existing storylines, meaning all of this is brand new in-universe information. With that…
