Bright: Samurai Soul
Netflix revived their surprisingly popular Bright universe with the anime film, Bright: Samurai Soul. True to its name, Samurai Soul takes place at the dawn of the Meiji Restoration era. There, a human samurai named Izou works with an orc assassin to protect a young elf girl.
While Samurai Soul’s 3D CGI can be sometimes jarring, the film is a great exploration of some of the ideas that make the Bright universe so appealing. The effortless way fantasy creatures blend in with actual human history makes the universe feel like a few other series.
Naruto Shippuden’s second movie sees Konoha Village battling against the ninja from the Land of the Sky. Naruto and Team 7 are far from the action though, with the group instead sent on a mission to escort a doctor on a different mission.
Bonds is exactly what most Naruto fans want from a movie. A new ninja introduced to expand the lore, and allow the supporting cast to have some great moments of their own already makes the film worth seeing.
One Piece Film Gold
One Piece movies always feel like a big event, and One Piece Film: Gold is no different. This time, the Straw Hat Pirates find themselves in trouble after a trip to the casino goes wrong. Before any of them realize it, a trip that was about making money turns into a rescue mission.
One Piece Film: Gold is another example of how beautiful the One Piece universe looks when the animators are really given enough time, as it’s a visually stunning movie from start to finish. Of course, experienced One Piece fans will get the most out of this movie.
